Such a crazy night! I spent the night watching the election.. but I’m sure 99.9999% of the US population did haha
My Dad was out for the night, as was my Mom, so I was on Election Coverage duty (since my sister didn’t want it). I ended up passing out for an hour and woke up to 10 text messages from him about what was going on… oops haha
Well, not all from him, some from my bffs lol
And maybe one from the boy
Nothing really new with that though.. I’m getting more and more nervous/excited about our date. I’m really hoping it happens.. I’m nervous guys!! I really like this one
A huge nor’easter is expected to hit us today and tomorrow.. apparently 8 inches of snow! I’m pretty sure it’ll just be a light dusting because I have been tracking the storm. I’m starting to wonder if this 2012 thing is really going to happen.
You know.. the end of the world stuff.
Lately the weather doesn’t seem to like us very much, and I mean, there was that earthquake here a few years ago too.
Better have my first date with this guy before the world explodes that’s for sure!!
Do any of you believe in that stuff? I don’t but sometimes I do wonder…
I have a funny story…
I decided to make today my long run.
So there I was, in my room getting dressed to head out. Since I usually wear leggings during my runs I pulled out a pair only to see that they were my capri ones. My long leggings were apparently in the wash. So I pulled the capri length leggings on and figured I’d be ok since I had my sweatshirt, scarf, gloves, ear muffs, and under armor.
Outside? Yea… it was a little cold.. ok it was a lot cold. It was freezing actually. But I could manage.
So I thought…
As I was running, the thought of making today a longer run day seemed like a good idea. My lungs were loving the crisp air and all I could think was “yea Rachel, you can do this!”
So I ended up doing 5 miles…. only because when my lungs are really feeling up to the challenge I figure why not. Not everyday my asthma isn’t acting up, so I went with it.
But my gosh… when I came inside what did I see?!
My legs… from the end of my leggings to my socks were BRIGHT RED and frozen. I actually got frost bite guys!!
The last time I got frost bite was when I went skiing with my Dad and Sister a year before I was diagnosed with Raynauds—so I didn’t really know what was happening… but after taking a hot (steamy hot) shower, and my circulation began pumping through my legs, was when I realized what happened.
Last time I wear capri leggings outside in this weather!!
Since I obviously needed a warm breakfast, I decided to nix the plan for yogurt and have a hot steamy bowl of oats.
Oat Bran to be exact… I just love how creamy it is!
I was out of my beloved blueberries this morning so I decided to pull out my applesauce and make some cinnamon apple oats
Which came out quite delicious
Creamy Cinnamon Apple Oat Bran
1/4 cup Oat Bran
1/4 cup unsweetened apple sauce
1 tsp flax meal
2 tbsp Chobani Plain
1 scoop Sunwarrior Vanilla
Toppings: 1 tbsp wheat germ and 1/2 tbsp peanut butter
I knew I had to eat a lot of calories for breakie because apparently I burned a lot more than I expected to.
Oh well.. sometimes that happens.
Happy Wednesday all!!
Have you ever had frost bite?
What’s your favorite winter running gear?
